So the bill for my education came in today, and evidently I no longer qualify for my merit-based scholarship. I don't understand this, since my GPA for this past semester was 2.93 and my cumulative GPA is 3.15. My Mom came up with the explanation that my GPA had to be above 3.2 to continue to get money, but that doesn't hold water when you look at my cumulative GPA from the three semesters prior to this one [2.75, 3.01, and 3.23]. And if the fact that I withdrew from a class last Fall made a difference, why wasn't that reflected on the bill for the Spring? Unless what they got was the Spring bill?
I have never before had anything to do with the money part of my education; I honestly couldn't tell you with any certainty how much they're spending for me to sleep around and drink my ass off each year, but I go to a very small private liberal arts university in New England, so I know it ain't a cheap vacation. What I think the reasonable thing for me to do in the current situation is be quiet for a few days and then resume normal activity. However, my Dad just informed me that it's on my shoulders to call up the financial office tomorrow and ask them a bunch of things that he listed out which I promptly forgot. I think I'm supposed to tell them to give me back my scholarship [using what argument, I don't know] and re-send the bill with some stuff on it or off it that isn't or is on it now, but don't quote me on that.
Here's how I think tomorrow is going to go:
Finance Office: University finance office.
JS: Uhhh, hi. Um, my parents just got the bill? And I've had a scholarship? But it's not on there anymore?
FO: Oh, ok. *typing noises* There's nothing I can do for you, I'm sorry.
JS: Oh, ok. Uh. Bye.
Dad: Did you call the financial office?
JS: Yeah. They said there's nothing they can do.
Dad: Well, you should have fucking studied harder! What the fuck do you think we're sending you up there to do, huh? You have to put your goddamn nose to the grindstone like your brother does.
JS: *thinks bitterly about how her Bro got his grades because HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY FRIENDS AT SCHOOL FOR TWO YEARS, but now he knows like 4 guys and he got a 2.0 this semester because HE DRINKS ALL THE TIME*
Dad: *carries on for a good long while about whatever*
Mom: *gets upset about the whole thing, calls her friends about it*
Dad: *still carrying on*
JS: *stares at the wall, seriously thinks about running away and becoming a stripper*
And as if this wasn't bad enough, it's piled on top of what I did a couple days ago:
This neighborhood kid who I used to babysit came around with his dad's lawnmower and asked if he could cut our grass. I gave him a couple bucks and he went at it. My Dad got home a few hours later and goes totally fucking ballistic on me and Mom because the kid didn't do a great job. I mean, he was livid. Out of his mind mad at me for shelling out some singles because I thought the lawn looked kind of long.
More importantly [meaning I'm going to forget about my grades in approximately 5 minutes, but I'll likely remember this], I've been trying to lighten my hair for like, six months. I just want to try being nice and blonde for a while, but no matter what color the box shows, I end up with this medium reddish brown. Well, right now, it's dark reddish brown at the ends and medium reddish brown at the roots, and I hate it. I'm thisclose to saying 'Fuck it' and just buying a box of black dye.
I hate hate hate being the only person under 50 in the house. I don't know how people can deal with being only children. It's not fair at all to have no real people in the house, just two mean crazy old people. When Bro was home at least it was a 50-50 kids-to-madmen ratio; I miss having him around, particularly on weeks like this.

my guess is that your hair is too dark and you need to bleach it before you dye it blonde...either that, or your hair won't accept the blonde because I'm not the one dying your hair for you. I think it's probably the second option.
the only thing I can think of for the financial aid is that you had to have above a 3.0 for the year? your two semesters wouldn't average to 3.0. or they messed up. I'd definitely call, and don't just hang up once they tell you there's nothing they can do.
and if it makes you feel any better...they cut my financial aid by $15,000 in scholarships last year. that was 15k I didn't have to pay back. last year I got $5,000...and this year? I haven't even found out about my financial aid yet. I guess that's what we get for going to a small liberal arts college where they actually pay attention to you on a personalized and individualized way. laaaame.
acccchmmm. meow. you're a cat?
well lets hope its an oversite on their part.
maybe it will be.
Lol @ your dad
thats too funny
Your hair looked good to me in the last pic.
Good luck with the financial folks.
Financial Aid folks are usually one notch above Parking enforcement on every campus i've been on. They don't give clear directions and then screw you when you can't follow their crazy guidelines. Hope you get it squared away to your benefit.
Call up everyone at the Financial Aid office. Then call people up some more.
As for the hair - I second the first comment - you need to substantially bleach your hair to go blonde. I know a girl who went from being a chestnut brunette to bleach blonde with that. Only thing is - you really need to super super condition your hair because the bleach is really damaging.
I'm an only child (Yay China's One Child Policy!). I went off the deep end 10 years ago so no help there. I don't know how I managed to deal with it. Large amounts of TV, alcohol and shopping, I presume
I may be in the minority here, but if it means anything, I'd like to vote for you keeping your sexy dark hair. And for eating more food shaped like dicks.... ;)
ta: i'm seeing a paid professional about the hair tomorrow. it might get done, but it won't get done with LOVE like how you do it. also, i don't get our school. they're supposedly all about diversity and shit, but then they make it so only rich kids can afford it.
sage: it's been dyed since the last pic.
mnwhr: we called and got a voicemail saying the woman in charge was on vacation. think it's a coincidence she goes on vaca the week bills go out?
tf: my hair's in pretty good shape- i never blow-dry, very rarely flatiron, and up until last week never tried to lighten it. i'm hoping it'll turn out well.
blackdog: i like the dark hair, too, but i really just want to try going light. it's more than easy to go dark, but lightening takes some maneuvering.
what??? I already left a comment here! Hmmm.. the comment goblin must have stolen it when I wasn't looking. Anyway, I think blonde sounds cute, just do what TDAA said, bleach it first. If it doesn't take then grab some light brown and maybe that would work. Anyway, as I said before I totally know what it's like when to be around when the parents are shit kickin every where. Your dad will probably end up calling them anyway so call them and yes the conversation with the Bursar will probably end up just like you said and then your dad will be pissed and pick up the phone himself so let him deal with it. :)
Yeah it totally sucks when a bro or sis can't be that buffer for you when the shit goes down, sorry to hear that. I hope it goes well for you.
If it makes you feel any better I didn't just loose a chunk off but my entire scholarship last year for not making grades, and as a result....well you know the result...
so hopefully this works out!! Keep pressing, def do that.
Bleaching your hair is the only way it may work, but bleaching
kills your hair, also its Summer so the Sun will damage it even more!!so hopefully you saw the pro?
I feel the same way, because well I AM an only child.
also LMAO at your Dad. even though I realize he's being annoying
