Thanksgiving break is fast approaching and I am unsure if I want to go back to NJ or stay up at school. It's just a 4- or 5-day vacation: Weds-Sat/Sun. My roomies are all staying, but they're going back to their respective homes on Thursday for festivities. JB invited me to go to her house, so it's not like I'd be sitting around our apartment all by my lonesome. Capoeira Guy [we went out to eat last night after practice and he came over to my house for a couple hours, so nyah to you nay-sayers from last post's comments] also told me that I could go to his house if I was around, but I'd definitely lean more towards going to JB's.
As I usually do in these situations, I'm going to write a list of Pros and Cons and let you people help me decide what to do.
Pros for going home:
Seeing Bro without his douchey friends [this is my #1 Pro]
Going out to eat on Daddy's dime
Replenishing my toiletries on Mommy's dime [this is a close #2]
Shopping with Mom [but would most likely not get to keep the stuff until Christmas]
Possibly seeing one or two of my few remaining highschool friends
Possibly seeing my wicked hot Capoeira instructor guy from the Summer [would definitely impress him with my new skills and hot 2-pack abs]
Cons:
Getting back and forth is a huge, huge pain in the ass
Trapped for 4+ hours in the car with Daddy [but would get new comic material]
Would have to go to Thanksgiving at the neighbor's house, which involves the adults talking, my brother and the neighbor boys playing, and me taking on a role similar to that of a houseplant [this is the #1 Con]
Neighbor's Thanksgiving food not great
Don't want to have to answer the "Any boyfriends?" question
Would miss out on some good social drinking up at school
I have to get in touch with Dad to figure out travel arrangements by, at latest, tomorrow afternoonish, so any thoughts are appreciated.
This morning I registered for classes. If you saw my twitter over on the right there, you may have noticed that I someone had to register a day later than the rest of the Junior class, and you may already know the end to this story.
I suspect that me having to go a day late has something to do with credits since I dropped a class last year, but I was a Junior for the housing lottery, and my account says that my "class for registration purposes is Junior" so it's just a little confusing.
Luckily enough I only really had to sign up for three courses, since I already had the Modern Dance TA thing locked down. I got in touch with two of the three professors to say that I'm a Junior and deserve the spot in the class more than any Sophomore going for it. Even more luckily I got the [kind of obvious in hindsight] tip to copy-paste the registration number for the course I needed/wanted the most to save even more time. Even even more luckily the site loaded faster than usual.
Long story short: I got into all my classes and have an awesome schedule for next semester!

I say go home and replenish toiletries and eating out. And for the car trip, I recommend eating a huge meal and just completely zonking out for the 4 hour drive, it's like you were magically teleported!
I'm excited for your schedule, glad you got into the classes you wanted.
I think you should stay. it's sweet that capoeira guy said you could go with him for thanksgiving. it's love, as I've already said. but seriously though, I'd say stay up here, and go to thanksgiving with JB...especially if all of your roommates are staying up here, that just seems to make the most sense. it would be a lot of fun too :)
If you can stay and still have your folks send you extra money that would be ideal. You can always claim that you need time to study.
tf: i actually have pretended to fall asleep when in the car with dad to avoid being talked at.
ta: i made the executive decision that i want to go home and get things. but i might be back here on Sat depending on Bro's sched
mnwhr: that wouldn't work; they'd assume i was drinking beer and having sex with boys if i said i was studying
From the way you present the pros and cons, I'd stay. Sooner or later you have to let your parents know you're not beholden to their whims. And why make yourself feel like a houseplant?
kilter: it's not that i'm beholden to their whims; they were assuming that i was staying until i called on thursday.
