Bodies

My favorite holiday is coming up!
Memorial Day is one of two times my entire family gets together (the other being Christmas). I've seen a lot more of everyone this past year since they'd come to the hospital to hang out, but typically we'd go a couple months without getting together. On the other hand, we live in the same town as J's whole fam, so it's a rare week that we don't so things with them.
We're heading out Saturday and I have a pile of stuff to do before then... Gotta pick up some pills at the pharmacy and a bridesmaid dress at the tailor; I'd like to do my nails and get rid of my mustache; I offered to bring a couple pies (maybe I'll take pictures and post the recipes?) plus I have to make sure J packs and takes out the trash.

Last weekend was really fun. J’s friend from the Marines came up with his girlfriend. They’re both cool and funny, it’s a real shame that they live so far away (and are moving even further before the end of the year).  We went into the city and saw that wild Bodies exhibit where they pose plasticized bodies so you can see the muscles and organs and whatnot. Here’s me with the blood supply of the heart:
We also went and saw J’s uncle’s cover band play. The guys helped pack up at the end and we didn’t get home until after 4 in the morning, which was a bummer because I had to leave for the uncle’s wife’s baby shower at 8:30. While I was away, J and his buddy got drunk with J’s grandfather who talked them into going to a baseball game that night. J’s friend made some calls to get someone to cover him at work the next day and they got the tickets. They asked if I wanted to go… I politely declined.
They live somewhat close to my parents; since we were planning a trip to go visit them this summer we might hop over and see these two again before they move.

I signed up for the 30-day yoga challenge at my studio. The idea is to take 30 classes in 30 days. It started on the 15th and so far I’ve only done 2. My plan for the rest of the week is to go tonight, tomorrow, and Friday. My personal goal was 15, but I’ll be happy if I get to 10.
It really didn’t help that I had a cold that I caught because J doesn’t seem to understand the concept of “suppressed immune system.” I seem to be feeling better now, but I get really disappointed in myself when I miss classes for any reason and get knocked off my routine.
All I want is to be a little less jiggly. J was thinking about getting us bikes with his tax refund and he’s been getting real cabin fever with the nice spring weather so odds are good he’ll do it. You never really know with that guy, though.

How do you guys stay focused on your fitness routines? What do you do when things go awry?

I'm really just trying to come up with a fitness routine! Along with a new job I received a free month membership at their on-site gym, so I finally stepped foot in one for the first time this week. I think it's all about finding Bikes sound like a good idea, especially for the summer- I really need to get on my goal of learning to ride one (eekk!).

Britt: The hardest part of learning to ride a bike is the pavement.

I wish I could say my fitness routine has been consistent but it's hard! I also messed up my knee so I haven't been motivated to do much. I think the biggest thing is just turning it into a habit. This is what you do everyday at this time, and that's just how it is. I also found that getting up early helped me be more consistent, but I have been having such a hard time getting up to do it before work!
